My Role

Interview parents of children with autism spectrum disorders or children with ADHD to establish specific needs, challenges, and behavioral patterns, and to identify key ways the app can benefit their children, as well as features to avoid. Research ABA therapy and teaching methods for children developmental ages 4 to 8 years old. Research existing apps and websites to identify features that work well, areas that need improvement, and features that do not work well or hinder usability or learning. Prototype testing with the target audience.

The Challenges

Children on the autism spectrum, or with ADHD, often find time management and changes to daily routines stressful, causing anxiety and frustration. This app will provide a simple visual calendar of day-to-day activities and upcoming events, using familiar imagery to help children understand and predict what will happen on a given day. It will also help them understand when there will be a change in the routine so they can prepare and adapt.

The Client

Easy Days is focused on providing an accessible, interactive visual calendar to help neuro divergent children understand what to expect during the day and better manage their stress and anxiety.

The Solution

A simple, easy to use visual calendar of day-to-day activities and upcoming events, using familiar imagery to help children understand and predict what will happen on a given day. The app also featurescalm down screen with breathing exercises, like blowing bubbles or blowing petals from a flower, to help the child feel calmer and more regulated.
